Bush Can't Hit a Curveball

Yesterday's devastating Senate Report outlining W's lies about Iraq, and his false claims of ties between Saddamn and al Qaeda, have largely overlooked the even larger conclusion of the report. That is, as I have said all along, W was hoodwinked into invading Iraq by our real enemy--Iran--in order to rid Iran of their only significant regional enemy.

The report also said exiles from the Iraqi National Congress (INC) tried to influence U.S. policy by providing, through defectors, false information on Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capabilities. After skeptical analysts warned that the group had been penetrated by hostile intelligence services, including Iran's, a 2002 White House directive ordered that U.S. funding for the INC be continued.

That is, after W had invented the Axis of Evil, in which he named Iran, W continued to completely ignore evidence that the sole source of his information about Iraq's fictional WMDs was Iranian mole Ahmed Chalabi and Chalabi's Munchausen, who was codenamed Curveball.

Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) was emphatic this week that Iraqi exiles did not fundamentally shape the critical assessment of the Iraqi threat in the 2002 National Intelligence Estimate.

But, as Sens. Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) emphasized in her statement, the report concluded that information provided by an INC source was cited in that estimate and in Secretary of State Colin L. Powell's February 2003 speech to the United Nations as corroborating evidence about Iraq's mobile biological weapons program. Those citations came despite two April 2002 CIA assessments, a May 2002 Defense Intelligence Agency fabrication notice and a July 2002 National Intelligence Council warning -- all saying the INC source may have been coached by the exile group into fabricating the information.

Yes, the evidence strongly suggests that Iran played W like a Stradivarius. They fed him the lies that W wanted to hear, and W ignored his own intelligence community's assessment that Curveball was a liar, and instead believed Iranian mole Chalabi and his prevaricator, Curveball.

It is the CIA's assessment that W was duped by Iran into invading Iraq, and that conclusion was endorsed by a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee. A truly damning report on the judgment of our President.

It makes me wonder just what is in the 3 chapters of the report that are still being supressed.

The partial release of the report came after nearly three years of partisan wrangling over what is to be a five-chapter analysis of the use of prewar intelligence in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The heart of the report -- a detailed comparison of administration statements with the intelligence then available -- is far from release. But the committee voted Thursday to release two chapters, one on the role that Iraqi exiles played in shaping prewar intelligence, the other on the accuracy of the prewar analyses of Hussein's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capabilities and his suspected links to al-Qaeda and the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Neo-Con Artist Lie Linking Saddamn and Al Qaeda Exposed

This week's Friday Surprise is a doosy!

One of the very few potential links between Saddamn and al Qaeda that the neo-con artists were able to come up with that had even a slight ring of truth was the existeence of Al Zarqawi's Ansar al Islam base in the no-fly zone of northern Iraq prior to the US invasion.

Yes, he was there, there is no doubt. As those uf us with functioning brains have said for 4 years, he was hiding near the Iran border, in Kurdish-occupied territory, where Saddamn could not strike him. The neo-con artists said differently:

Bush and other administration officials have said that the presence of Zarqawi in Iraq before the war was evidence of a connection between Saddam's government and al-Qaida. Zarqawi was killed by a U.S. airstrike in June this year.

Well, the Senate has issued a report, and yet another Bushite lie is exposed:

There's no evidence Saddam Hussein had a relationship with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his Al-Qaida associates, according to a Senate report on prewar intelligence on Iraq.

The long-awaited report, said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., a member of the committee, is "a devastating indictment of the Bush-Cheney administration's unrelenting, misleading and deceptive attempts" to link Saddam to al-Qaida.

And, upon closer examination, the Senate report is even more damning to W than it appeared on first glance:

"Saddam only expressed negative sentiments about bin Laden," Tariq Aziz, the Iraqi leader's top aide, told the FBI.

The report also faults intelligence gathering in the lead-up to the 2003 invasion.

As recently as an Aug. 21 news conference, Bush said people should "imagine a world in which you had Saddam Hussein" with the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction and "who had relations with Zarqawi."

Democrats contended that the administration continues to use faulty intelligence, including assertions of a link between Saddam's government and the recently killed al-Zarqawi, to justify the war in Iraq.

They also said, in remarks attached to Friday's Senate Intelligence Committee document, that former CIA Director George Tenet had modified his position on the terrorist link at the request of administration policymakers.

It said al-Zarqawi was in Baghdad from May until late November 2002. But "postwar information indicates that Saddam Hussein attempted, unsuccessfully, to locate and capture al-Zarqawi and that the regime did not have a relationship with, harbor, or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi."

Saddamn was an al Qaeda opponent?????

Yes, we've been told that Saddamn 'hosted' Zarqawi in Baghdad, but it appears he hosted them in the way W 'hosted' renegade polygamist Warren Jeffs for the past few months.
